We Are Seeking a Priest to Journey With Us

We are St. Francis of Assisi in Airdrie, Alberta.  We have one weekly service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with an average of 60 parishioners attending.  We also have in-person morning prayers on Monday and Thursday mornings at 9:00 a.m.  This is also beamed online (virtual) on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:00 a.m.  We have a diverse congregation with many countries of origin represented.  Airdrie is a rapidly growing city, with a population of approximately 95,000.  Many of our parishioners are seniors, though we have a range of ages and demographics represented, some of whom have children who attend Sunday School.  We were founded in 1979, and some of those who started the church still have active roles in the church—they enjoy maintaining our history.  Our church uses the motto “A Beacon of Hope, An Oasis of Peace” and our congregation wants everyone to be welcome here.

We have many people in our congregation who actively support the church through volunteering with portfolios such as:  Music, Sunday School, Audio/Visual, Website, Greeters, Altar Guild, cookies for first responders at Christmas, Vacation Bible School, Prayer and Praise, Ladies Tea, Men’s Breakfast, hosting Airdrie House of Prayer, and a yearly outdoor concert called Praise in the Park.  We also have the Annual Airdrie Mayor’s Leadership Prayer Breakfast.  We have an active Deacon in our church who supports community outreach, among other responsibilities.  We present a hybrid approach to worship; we use the BAS and we are currently experimenting with a variety of music styles at the end of each service.  We have some who worship in a traditional sense and those who are evangelical and express their faith in a variety of ways.  Our services are presented virtually, and we have some consistent attendees.

This is a 0.75 FTE position, which includes benefits, a pension plan, and mileage.    We are eager to connect with the Holy Spirit and pray that our church will grow with a new priest working with us.  We are looking for someone who is eager to get to know us and connect with us through relationship, serving God together.
