October is Pastors’ Appreciation Month, a special opportunity to recognize the clergy and spiritual leaders who dedicate themselves to serving God and caring for His people.

At St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, this month holds particular significance. Although we continue our search for the priest God will call to journey with our parish, we give thanks that we have been shepherded throughout this season by dedicated clergymen and women, our deacons, and our parish leadership. Through their ministry, guidance, prayers, and service, they continue to encourage and support our church family.

Pastoral ministry extends far beyond the pulpit. It is found in prayers offered during difficult moments, words of encouragement when hearts are weary, the faithful leading of worship, and the quiet acts of service that strengthen our faith. Much of this work happens away from public view, yet its impact reaches deeply into our lives.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.” 1 Thessalonians 5:13 (NLT)

Five Ways to Show Our Appreciation

Our Pastors’ Appreciation poster offers some wonderful, practical ways to express our gratitude. This October, why not choose one or more ways to bless those who serve among us?

Encourage Them
Write a heartfelt note, send an encouraging message, or share how their ministry has made a difference in your life. Even a simple thank-you can mean a great deal.

Pray for Them
Remember our clergy, deacons, parish leaders, and their families in your prayers. Ask God to grant them strength, wisdom, rest, joy, and encouragement.

Lend a Hand
Offer practical help with a task or project, volunteer when needed, or look for ways to lighten the load of those who give so much of themselves.

Treat Them
A favourite coffee, a thoughtful gift card, or a small gesture of kindness can brighten someone's day and remind them that their service is valued.

Bless Their Family
Those who serve in ministry are supported by families who share in the demands of that calling. A thoughtful gesture, a family treat, or practical support can bless them too.

You do not need to do everything. A sincere gesture, offered with love, can make a lasting difference.

Giving Thanks Today, Looking Forward with Hope

As we continue prayerfully seeking our next incumbent, let us remain grateful for those who faithfully serve us today. We look forward with hope to the next chapter of our parish journey, while honouring the people God is using to guide and sustain us in this present season.

May our appreciation go beyond words and become visible through our prayers, generosity, encouragement, and willingness to serve alongside those who lead us.

“Encourage one another and build each other up.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)

To all the clergy, deacons, and parish leaders who have guided, supported, and encouraged St. Francis: thank you. We appreciate you, we pray for you, and we give thanks to God for your ministry among us.
