In a book co-authored by Jon Gordon, Dan Britton and Jimmy Page called “One Word”, the writers share how concentrating on one word instead of goals and resolutions hyper- actioned their focus and intensity to bring about change in their spiritual, personal, and business lives. So as noted above my One Word for St. Francis this year is “Invitation”.

Rather than focus on who the next incumbent will be, or making sure the toilets continue to flush or who will help with VBS or Sunday School, or who’s coming to what Bible Study – let’s focus our thoughts on being intentional in inviting whom God places on your heart to come and worship with us each week. So, we pray that God will place someone on our heart to extend a “come and see” to your family, a neighbour, or colleague. God will do the rest.

To guide us in this area, I give you Colossians1: 9-12
“9  For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s [a]  will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,  10  so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God.  11  May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully  12  giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled [b]  you [c]  to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. (NRSV).

All else will fall into place as we trust in God throughout 2026 and beyond.

God bless us!
