On a night when drifting snow and challenging conditions might have kept many indoors, the spirit of community at St. Francis proved stronger than the storm. Twenty-five parishioners and friends braved the elements to gather for a joyful Pancake Supper filled with fellowship, laughter, and abundant food.
The evening featured a hearty feast of pancakes and sausages, with fresh oranges served for dessert. The meal was offered by donation, and the generosity of those present reflected the warmth that filled the hall despite the winter weather outside.
We were especially honoured to welcome two guests representing Airdrie Special Olympics: Emmi, an athlete, and Merle, a dedicated volunteer. They shared insights into the organization’s programs and the wide range of sporting opportunities available to athletes in our community. Their stories were inspiring and gave everyone present a deeper appreciation for the impact of inclusive sports and volunteer service.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, St. Francis was able to present a donation of $800 to support the ongoing work of Special Olympics in Airdrie. Our guests expressed heartfelt gratitude for both the financial contribution and the welcoming spirit they experienced throughout the evening.
Even in the midst of winter’s challenges, the Pancake Supper was a beautiful reminder that fellowship, compassion, and community flourish when people come together with open hearts.
Blessings to all who participated, volunteered, and supported this meaningful evening.
